  • Kindergarten Applications Open for 2024-2025

    If you have a child born in 2019, you can now apply for kindergarten for your child for the 2024-2025 school year.  You can apply at MySchools.nyc from December 5th through January 19th. 

    If you have any questions or  need help with applying to kindergarten for your child, please contact our parent coordinator Ms. Yin at 718-492-0087, Ext. 1131.  Ms. Yin has office hours for parents who need assistance from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, Monday to Friday. Please come to the main office if you need help.

Student Lighthouse Team

The student lighthouse team is a group of students from second through fifth grades that meet weekly to discuss how they can help make the school community a better place. The team brainstorms ideas for community service projects that the school community participates in on a monthly basis. The team also reinforces the Seven Habits of Happy Kids by exhibiting leadership qualities and creating videos to reinforce the habits.  The team serves as the voice of the student body.

Lulu the Comfort Dog

Lulu's Spotlight

Lulu is a friendly, five year old Chihuahua- Jack Russel mix, who joined our PS 506 family in 2017, through the NYC DOE Comfort dog program. Comfort Dogs offer our students support through the use of Animal Assisted Interventions. Lulu, who must undergo extensive training prior to participating in interventions, provides our students with a safe, welcoming environment and acts as a motivational tool, offering emotional stability and support.   She socializes well with students and has become an asset as part of our school’s crisis intervention team.  Lulu is also included in classroom lessons on social-emotional learning, resiliency, and human-animal interaction.
